Description

Production:

Jingdezhen city lies in the northeast of Jiangxi Province. The city is famous for its exquisite porcelain production that dates back to the 14th century Ming dynasty, when its dragon kilns produced its famous porcelain for the imperial court. The imperial kilns led to the development and refining of the famous blue and enamel glazing techniques.

Rust glazing:

The emperor Qianlong 1735-1799, (Qing dynasty) personally directed the trend for ore glazing, inspired by ancient metal-ware and ritual bronzes in porcelain. Today, using a modern Jingdezhen kiln, glaze with (ore) iron and manganese is used to provide its rich exterior texture.

Recommended tea:

Recommended for black tea such as earl grey, red-teas or Pu-Erh. The porous dark clay, rich in iron is said to enhance the umami component of black teas by bringing out the tannins found in its tealeaves.
